I remember a few years ago my sister set out in search of a cute nap-mat for her daughter (knowing she’d be going to daycare in the coming years… trying to find something practical but adorable – not always easy!) I’m kind of a know-it-all – which I know isn’t really a compliment, but nonetheless if I don’t know where you can find a good deal or something cute offhand, I am resourceful enough to find something good quickly. After about 10 minutes with the both of us browsing around online I stumbled upon the cutest handmade item baby boutique and emailed the link to Melinda.
When I remembered how cute it turned out, I sent Melinda a few questions (so I could remember all the details correctly!) – and thought I’d share her answers with you guys!!
Me: Tell us about what you ordered from Custom Baby Boutique!
Melinda: Well I searched and searched on-line for nap mats and ran across this particular place and fell in love with their fabric and personalization options! My friends made fun of me because my daughter wasn’t even in daycare yet but I HAD to have one! So I didn’t get much use out of it for the first couple of months but the last year and a half it has been great! She uses is everyday at day care during nap time and loves it.
Me: We found several websites with nap mats, why did you end up choosing this particular one?
Melinda: Well, I love the way it is made; everything is all in one. You have a mat, pillow and cover all in one piece. It makes it very convenient to carry and it is machine washable so every week I bring it home from daycare to wash it. Did I mention that it is also adorable? I went round and round trying to pick a design because they were all so cute!
Me: How was their customer service and product quality?
Melinda: The customer service was amazing, during the process of my order the owner’s home was affected by a hurricane and she was without electricity. Yet she still contacted me and shipped my order on time! I was really impressed that she went so far out of her way. And the quality is wonderful, it still looks brand new!
If you want to check it out, go to http://www.custombabyboutique.com/ – she does so much more than just nap mats! And speaking of that great customer service, the owner of Custom Baby Boutique has worked out a GREAT giveaway for all you Moms out there! A while back we asked what the number one travel accessory was and there were many great answers – but most often was a good, leak-proof cup for the car ride!
Here is YOUR CHANCE for a FREE PERSONALIZED sippy cup of YOUR CHOICE!
Just comment this blog telling us the longest car ride you’ve ever experienced with your children (my vote doesn’t count, but 12 hours to New Mexico was BRUTAL with a 1 year old and a 2.5 year old!) -and if you just brought your newborn home and that’s the only car ride he has ever taken, don’t worry, you can enter too! We will pick a winner using random.org this Friday around 12 noon (central). We will announce the winner in our blog, as well as on Facebook to aviod any confusion!

The longest car ride that we’ve had to do with our daughter, so far, is 4 hours. The “longest for sure” won’t come until next summer when we PCS from our current location. We would choose the Pink and Lime Dragonfly sippy cup.
So cute!
With Hailey our longest car ride has been from my house to Austin, from Austin to San Antonio and back home all in one day.
With Carter its been from my house to Baycliff
The longest car drive we’ve had to do with our daughter, so far, was SUPPOSED to be 5 hours.
She was 3 months old at the time.
Our longest car ride with our daughter, so far, was 2.5 hours to visit my grandmother… her great grandmother. She was 7 months old and she did a GREAT job!
Well, where do I start? We travel 4 hrs every other weekend to Norhern MI durring the winter, so 4 hrs there and 4 hrs back. It used to take us under 4 hrs, now we are 5 hrs plus with all of the stops.
The longest car ride we have taken is 15 hrs. Last summer my husband and our then 6 month old TWINS, spent 4 months in North Carolina. We live in MI and when my husband had to travel he would drive us home, we flew a few times too. We made the 15 hr drive 5 times (one way), and flew with the twins on 5 times too. The worst part of this is we are going back for 6 months starting in April. This is why I am so excited that I found your website. I will probably have a lot to contribute also. We will be living somewhere in NC, I am not sure where yet, and will be traveling by car back to MI once a month and then back to NC. Wish me luck!
The longest car ride we have ever had with our son, Avery, was 6 hours from Port Lavaca, TX to Brady, TX. Bless his little soul–he was a sweet sleeping angel! He slept the entire time except for when it was feeding time and diaper changing time. I would have loved to have this website handy back then as he was only 7 weeks old!
BUT–The longest car ride for me was about 20 minutes! He was tired, cranky, hungry, and ready for a bath and bed! It was from my mom’s house to our house and he was screaming the entire time! I stopped I don’t even know how many times to try to console him with the pacifier, but I eventually just gave up and finally mae it home with my screaming child!
The longest one with them both was over 24 hours long ( i stopped counting at some point). In the Army you learn to deal with the chances you get to visit family since you never know where you will end up next (were talking possiblity for overseas here ladies, sort of hard to drive home!). So I took the chance while my husband was in training to drive to visit my mom with a colicky two month old and a 20 month old from southern AL to VA. It was tourtre. I eventually learned to tune out the baby and give the toddler a portable dvd player (my other weapon of choice). But what i didnt expect was the hardship i had trying to get from the car to the hotel room! A diaper bag, carseat, “hotel bag”, toddler, purse….oh my sanity. I think i left it in the car that night. Then litearlly 30 minutes from my moms, we ended up in a dead stop on the highway due to a accident. I rolled down the windows to let the other drivers “enjoy” the noise i was. after three hours stuck, i pulled into my moms driveway, balling as i spilled out of the car. Right now we are waiting on new orders from the Army. “any day” they say….and that was three months ago.
Longest car ride we took was 10 hrs plus to Philly to visit Sesame Place! Our 2 yr old was AWESOME! She loves the car. She played games, listened and sang to music, watched tv, and played with toys – and napped A LOT!
Thanks for the fun contest!

The longest car ride we had was 19 hours and was from Houston, Texas to Fort SMith, Arkansas this trip takes 10 usually. We were escaping Hurricane Ike though and if any of you remember out of 4 million people in Houston most of us tried to leave about the same time. At the time I had a 2, 3, and 4 year old. It was horrific but we made it!
My longest car ride was with my 2 year old to New Mexico. It was a long 12 hours. I’m not sure who was worse, my daughter or my husband! When we went to New Mexico we traveled at night which worked out great because Avery slept until the morning and by the time she woke up we were over half way there, but on the way home we left during the day and that trip consisted of a lot of movies and snacks! BUT, all in all she did great!
I have two the first was from Ft. Benning, GA to Ft. Huachuca, AZ. We did stop twice and it took 3 days, DD was only 20 months and no amount of DVD’s, toys or snacks would make her happy. She was so tired of just having to sit and not move around(it also didn’t help the car was packed down). The second was from Fort Benning, GA to Fort Hood, TX. This time I had both kiddos, DS was almost 1 and DD was 4. I think this was the worst because I was alone with both kids having to drive, when I got to Shreveport, LA I stopped because I mentally could not take another crying or puking episode(yes we had puking on this trip, which was funny cause I had to pull over on the highway and has a LA Highway patrol man stop to make sure everything was ok and at this point I have one crying the other puking.) I vowed to never push myself or the kids this much on a car trip ever again.
The longest trip we ever took was 3 hours to Maryland to visit my sister & brother-in-law. He slept the whole way there & the whole way back! (he was 5 months old at the time)
We moved from NY to Texas back in June, but still have tons of friends and family in NY. My girl is NOT so good in the car. We had to drive from JFK upstate to visit my husband’s family with a screaming baby in the middle of the night due to having to change our flight because of impending snow. Ugh… She has been much better in the car lately. Thanks goodness!
Those cups are adorable! My daughters name is Katelyn and although it looks like such a normal way to spell it, I can’t find anything with it spelled correctly!
Where do I start? My son is 2 and the best car baby ever! When he was 3 months old I drove 1200 miles from NY to FL. Then when he was a year old we did the drive back to NY from FL.
At 15 months we drove from NY to Iowa and then back to NY. (That’s 1600 miles)
Then when at 20 months, it was time to PCS. We moved from basically the Canadian Border to the Mexico Border (Ft. Drum, NY to Ft. Bliss, TX) 5 days and 2600 miles later we made it.
Then, just for fun, for Christmas we Did El Paso, TX to Jacksonville, FL and back. 1600 miles each way!
Since my son has been born (Dec 27, 2007), he has traveled over 12,000 in major trips, not including the small trips (anything less then 8 hours is a small trip to me! LOL).
My daughter is only 3 months old and we’ve been on several road trips that were about 2-3 hours each and she has done really well. Sleeping most of the time except when she was hungry or wet. But the “longest” trips are when she is crying and I cant pull over to put the paci back in her mouth. All I can do is try to talk to her and calm her down but of course that doesn’t work. But she usually calms down just as we’re pulling up to where were going
The longest we took was to 18 hours to New Mexico. They were 4 & 5 at the time so movies were played alot! lol My kids have traveled since they were both about 3 weeks old so they are pretty used to it-they learned to sleep through most of it erly on.
Longest for us is 5 hours to visit great grandma and grandpa! First time (we have done it several times now) he was 5 months…He does good as long as we can time his naps to the driving…otherwise we get to enjoy his unhappiness!
But in the end its worth it as he loves his great grandparents!
The longest car ride I’ve had with my twins was when they were 6 months old we drove from Bainbridge, NY to Crosby, ND. We drove 15 hours the first day, stopped for the night; drove 11 hours the next day, stopped for the night (and might I also add that the hotel we had made reservations at was in a flooded city with NO RUNNING WATER! but we had no choice but to stay there); then we drove 6 hours on day three. Brutal, brutal trip.
Since I have no kids of my own yet, I’ll have to go with talking about someone else’s kids for now. I rode in a van with a toddler from Houston, TX to Middle-of-Nowhere, Kansas. The most memorable part? When the child peed a huge puddle in the middle of the restaurant at the rest-stop after refusing to go to the bathroom at his mother’s request.
Our longest distance drive was 4 hrs to Dallas. But, the trip that felt like the longest was only 1 hour…with a toddler kicking and screaming so loud and forceful that she made herself gag over and over!
Our longest trip in the car was 14 VERY long and exhausting hours!! Our ultimate destination was San Antonio from Tulsa. We ended up getting caught in Dallas at the noon hour, and Austin at rush hour!! Fortunately I had packed a ton of snacks and movies and the kids handled it very well. This year we are heading to Pennsylvania! That’s an even longer trip and with more kids! Lord, Please help us!
My daughter has made the 5 hour trip from our home in West Virginia up to my hometown in northern Ohio four times in her eight months. It’s not a bad trip since she is so little but I have a feeling it will start to feel a lot longer the older she gets
Our longest trip was about 6 hours to Raleigh to meet up with a bunch of other mommies who had babies the same age (6 months @ the time). The drive was a bit trying BY MYSELF with little man…but the fellowship at the end made it worth it!
Our longest car ride was when we moved from NC to TX back in October. Our daughter was 7 months old at the time. It took us 2 and a half days with stopping over night in hotels for 2 nights (not fun). The car ride was pretty good considering we also had 2 dogs and 3 cats with us. We were also hauling our 2nd vehicle behind our Jeep which slowed us down a bit. But we made it and everyone was ok when we got here! I hope the next time we move she’ll be able to entertain herself a little! Our next road trip will be in May when we go to Colorado to visit friends. The dogs will be fine, but now DD is a year and very mobile! She might not take it as well this time around!
I’m leaving a comment for my sister, b/c I think the sippy cup is really cute. The longest–and only carride–with Miss Emma was the trip home from Victoria to Port Lavaca. I’m sure we have many more fun ones in store with her!
The longest trip with DS was 10 hours one way. We buried my grandfather then turned around and came home the next day. Inwas suprised how well my 4 month old did. He was an awesome traveler!
Mine is on the way
So the longest I’ve been is 7 hours with her in the belly! ha! But the longest car ride ever with kiddos was when I nannied… 14 hours. That, my dears, was brutal!
We took a vacation with our 2 1/2 year old to Arkansas from Texas…about a 6 hour drive. But to me the longest drive I ever took was anywhere with my youngest…she screamed from the moment we put her in the car until we took her out for the first 3 months of her life. It was pure torture! I love Kari’s products – I just ordered a couple of sippies and my oldest has one of her napmats – great investment!
The longest drive we’ve taken is to Destin, FL from Houston, TX. I had a 4 year old and almost 1 year old. They did pretty good considering the time but Mom had to climb in the back (how I managed to do that with 2 car seats in the backseat of a Traverse is beyond me) and ride for hours at the end. All I have to say is whoever invented the DVD player in the vehicle must be a parent. I don’t know how we could have done it without that!!!
The longest car ride we’ve had with Cass is our yearly trip to Concan…a little over 6 hours with stops. She’s always been good…but I’m scared for this summer! She is an EVIL 3 year old now!
The longest ride we have had with Brileigh is 4 1/2 hours to Athens at 6weeks to visist my sister. But the “longest ride ever” was from your house to my house with a screaming child the whole way home!!! And stopping on the side of 529 to try and console her but nothing worked until we got home and took her out of her seat!
Our longest car ride has only been about an hour and a half, to and from the airport. We love, love, love us some personalized goodies though!!
Longest car ride has been 6 hours to the beach! I think we stopped every hour to regroup!! She was very mobile last summer! This summer’s ride will be interesting!! I ended up sitting in the back with her most of the trip!
Around Christmas we drove from Houston to Missouri to visit family. My son was 11 months old and we were in the car for 12 hours. He did mostly good on the ride except for the last 2 hours were torture! He wanted out of the car seat badly and cried those last couple of hours. We sure were glad to get out of the car!
Congrats Amber Smith!! You’re out winner!!!

I think that a foreclosure can have a important effect on the borrower’s life. Foreclosures can have a Seven to several years negative effects on a applicant’s credit report. A borrower having applied for home financing or any kind of loans for instance, knows that the worse credit rating is actually, the more difficult it is to secure a decent financial loan. In addition, it could affect the borrower’s chance to find a really good place to let or hire, if that gets to be the alternative houses solution. Great blog post.

One thing is the fact one of the most frequent incentives for utilizing your card is a cash-back or even rebate present. Generally, you get 1-5% back with various acquisitions. Depending on the cards, you may get 1% back again on most expenses, and 5% again on expenditures made using convenience stores, filling stations, grocery stores plus ‘member merchants’.
